Radovljica 2026: Slovenia’s Sweet Capital and Its Secrets

Exclusive tour from Bled in a private minivan (up to 7 people)

Leave the hustle and bustle of Bled behind for just 15 minutes. We’ll head to Radol’ca—a town that officially holds the title of “the sunniest place in the Gorenjska region.” Our route isn’t just a walk; it’s a journey into the history of the “Honestly Sweet” brand, where every color in the logo has meaning: from the blue of the rivers to the brown of chocolate and the warm yellow of honey.

What makes this tour unique?

Instead of the usual facts, I’ll show you the details that tourists usually miss:

  1. “Peračiški tuf” green stone: Take a look at the doorways and windows of the houses. This soft, green-colored stone has been used here since the days of Ancient Rome, and the craftsmanship of the stonemasons reached its peak in the 16th–19th centuries.
  2.  Slovenia’s only moat: We’ll walk along the western part of the old town, where the country’s only medieval defensive moat that hasn’t been filled in remains. The city was once defended by 16 towers, and traces of this power are still visible today.
  3.  Šivčeva hiša (Šivč’s House): We will step inside one of the most authentic medieval buildings in all of Central Europe. It has preserved a unique layout without an entrance corridor (tower), characteristic of the 16th century.
  4.  The Pillory: At Malijeva hiša, I’ll show you the “sramotilna klop”—the city’s original pillory, where offending residents were punished.

Tour Itinerary:

  1. The Lectar Workshop (A Living Tradition Since 1766):
We’ll head down to the cellar where Jakob Krivitz first set up shop over 250 years ago. This isn’t just a museum—it’s a working workshop where the scent of honey and spices transports you back in time. We’ll see how the famous “Lectar hearts” are made, which were once used as tokens of love.
  2. The Gothic Tavern and “Wine Paintings”:
I’ll take you to a unique place—the only tavern in Slovenia owned by a parish. Inside, we’ll see “wine paintings”—portraits of great Slovenians painted not with paint, but with real red wine (Refosco and Teran).
  3. View of the Sava River and the Alps:
Our “secret spot” is the city’s highest terrace (70–90 meters above sea level), formed after the last ice age. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the confluence of the Sava Dolinka and Sava Bohinjska rivers and the majestic peaks of the Karawanks, including Mount Stol (2,236 m).
